It all started when…

Los Angeles, California - In Honor of getting his star on the Hollywood Walk of fame last Monday, “Weird Al” Yankovic announced that he will be releasing a parody of Despacito, which has gotten over 5 billion views on youtube since its release in January of 2017, rocketing  it to the number one most watch video on the platform.

Yankovic is not the first to use the viral nature of this song, in fact the Canadian sensation Justin Bieber has already released a remix version, which itself reached the top of the charts for many weeks.

Despite not needing the permission of the original artists to release a parody, Yankovic has always requested permission before releasing his parodies, saying "I don't want to hurt anybody's feelings.” He reportedly was in talks with Universal Latin over the rights to this song for over a year. He was finally given permission directly by Luis Fonsi in a private email.

We are excitedly awaiting the release of this single and expect it to do quite well. If you are excited too, share this article to spread the word!
